Assault charge ignored by local police

I was assaulted in a restaurant locally in Hermanus with four witnesses. The assailant came from behind and attacked me with his elbow. I raised a case of assault with the local police and it has never yet come to light. This incident was in November 2011. It has been suggested that he paid the police to loose the documentation. I have been to the head of the police detectives with copies and still nothing... I am determined to have this incident exposed. As I am struggling, any help would be appreciated.
