City Power Johannesburg
Given The Run Around - Prepaid Meters

Politics & Government

Reading your Corporate Governance I see nothing in line with what you are trying to promote. I applied for a prepaid meter at 112 Church Street, Turffontein in hope that be able to keep an eye on our electricity consumption as my wife was unemployed. I applied in November 2012, paid R4, 560.00 for 2 single phase meters and was assured that all would be done in 21 days. After a month of phone calls and follow ups I spoke to Saleem who installs the meters and informed me that there was a boundary box, cables, cross levelling etc. This would be done be an independant contractor. Why was I not informed about this initially?? The cheapest quote would cost me around R12 000.00, if I had known this I wouldn't of proceeded as the cost far outweighs the benefit. I went and enquired about cancelling as I was not in the financial position to have this installed and once again by the ill-informed Booysens staff at the walk in centre I was given a reference and assured that this will be reversed to my lights account in 2-3 months. The reference provided was 8001323872. Today I went there and I am told that nothing can be done and they never mentioned this will be reversed. Where does this leave me
