After confirming a rate of R33/day, I rented 2x GPS units fromTom Tom at Tempest Car Hire at Cape Town Intl Airport on 01/03/2013.

I was however charged R59/day for the one unit and R47/day for the other.

When querying the rates, I was told that the R33/day had been a weekend special with specific conditions and that this had been explained to me.

Prior to renting, I had twice confirmed the rate with the agent (in front of a witness) and no mention of a weekend special or any conditions was made whatsoever. Neither was any of this mentioned on the 2x occasions when I extended the rentals.

I am of the opinion that this is a breach of the Consumer Protection Act and do not appreciate being made a.

Potential customers should be warned against Tom Toms ways.
