I brought my car in on the 27th of January 2014. I had an issue with my gearbox, the owner said he would phone around for prices. He eventually found a second hand gearbox through Gumtree which I promply paid for. I was told the gearbox would be fetched or delivered by yesterday the 3rd of February 2014 so I followed up and was told that the car would only be ready by Thursday late afternoon and they were not yet in possession of the gearbox, When speaking to the secretary I asked for them to please let me know when they had the gearbox. I promptly send an email this morning following up if they had received the gearbox yet and saying that I understood it would take until late Thursday afternoon but if it could be sooner it would be greatly appreciated. I explained that I have been renting a car daily and it was costly.
I then got an email stating that they would no longer repair my car as they do not allow customers to dictate deadlines or time limits as they have been in the industry for 28 years and they will pay me back and I must come and collect my car.
I never realised that sending an email or following up on my personal belongings was so intrusive.
