Miscellaneous

My son started to see an oil leak on his VW Golf 2002 model 109602km on the clock. The oil leak was coming from the area around the oil filter. The car was taken into CENCAR in Centurion. It was clearly stated that the car had a full service in Dec 2013. After two days we received a quote for R12015.60 to fix the issue and a lot of other work that needed to be performed on the car. I queried the quote with the service advisor Danielle Hutton to try and understand how the car can require this amount of work to be done. She explained that they do a full inspection and report on everything that is wrong. If I leave out all the other items that they found the quote will reduce to R7136 plus Tax. She explained that the oil leak has thrown oil onto the clutch and that the cam belt had oil on it, so all of this had to be replace. I rejected the quote and had to pay R718.00 to get the car back. I took the car to another place and they replaced the oil pressure sensor and charged me R350 for all the work. They confirmed that no oil could be found on the cam belt and it is almost impossible for the oil to move through the packing into the clutch area. Will never use them again.
