Defective car under aa 6 months warranty

My dad bought me a car at mccarthy pre owned to later find that the car has problems with its braking system and cooling system within the 6 months, so i read under an act in the CPA i could replacement on the car before the warranty falls out, which channels must one follow because the manger at the dealership says he can't comment on it and that we should take it up with mccarthy's legal team
