STS
Billed for a ringtone subscription... really?

Miscellaneous

I am Cell C customer and have been billed from around 26th April 2013 to 31 May 2013 an amount of R17.55 per day for what has been described by Cell C as a Smartcall ring tone subscription (by the way, I own a tablet - what I would do with ringtones... only you know). My account was debited in excess of R140 in May and now I am due to be charged in excess of R540 this month. I will be placing a stop order on my Cell C contract debit, cancelling all my subscriptions with Cell C as well as reporting this to the Consumer Commission and whoever will listen (seems like an interesting story as there are millions of cell phone subscribers... don't you think so?). Please look at the complaints lodged against this company in relation to people being unaware of being subscribed. Is there no business ethics being practised here? There are 149 complaints on Hello Peter alone. So many complaints but I have not seen a single public awareness campaign by Smartcall to inform customers regarding these issues. Just for interest - I have seen that you do prove subscription but can you prove delivery of the service that I have apparently subscribed to? If you can't, what am I paying for?
