This is disturbing please help

Probably more than 15 years ago I had a revolving credit account at Standard Bank as a student. One day the autobank in centurion swallowed my bank card and somebody got a hold of it and made fictitious deposits on my account. I did report it the next morning but it was too late. As a theology student and a youth minister with a minimal salary I paid back as much as I could. Then there was no more contact. A few years later when I phoned Standard Bank they said they cant find me on the system with my id number. There has been no correspondence for more than 5 years and they cant find me on their system??? On the mbd letter they have an address where we lived 6 years ago. I gave up years ago because of no correspondence now suddenly I get a letter from Mbd demanding immediately payment by 28 March??? With almost R4000 interest on the account. Ive had no correspondense from mbd or standard bank of any kind in the last 5 years to say that owe them anything. Please help me what do I do know this isnt fair after all this time for something I still believe I wasnt responsible for it was more than a decade ago.
