Legal fees added to my levy statement

I am in arrears with my levy at a unit I own-no. 25 Graceland 1 in Northworld, Johannesburg. I have been making payments, but not sufficiently. On Dec. 13th 2013, I saw an amount of R1, 850 legal fees from Christo Sutherland Attorneys-0861000795. There was no notice, no communication and I haven't received any summons. The attorney's explanation is that they have an arrangement with the managing agent-Whitefields-0114753983. Whitfields passes me back to the attoney. Is there no procedure for collection before fees are added to statements or at least a notification of their intention? Pls note that the managing agent has got all my details because they send me statements every month on my email. I did not also receive any communication from them.
