MTN and MBD - When does it end!!

Hi there,
Straight to the point- I have been paying an outstanding MTN account with MBD for years now and it seems the amount keeps on increasing instead of decreasing!! I'm worried constantly about this and make sure I pay it every month but the amount gets bigger and badder... I don't understand why though. I pay a fixed installment every month, they send me an sms once a month to remind me to make payment and they hardly ever phone me so why would they charge me so much interest?? (because I'm thinking/hoping that's the reason why it keeps increasing). Feels like I've been paying forever and it's so stressful!! What can I do please help? I really feel at my wits end and so sick of seeing the amount increase, it's like taking three steps forward and a hundred steps back!
