Illegal bidding process and web site misfunctions

1) On 20 February I placed a bid that was accepted, I requested SMS alerts if I was outbid. I received no notification and lost the auction to a buyer that placed the same amount. Even if an automatic bid is placed - I should have been informed when I placed my bid so that I could increase it. If someone can bid for the same amount - then what is the point - this is an illegal action
2) I further bid on another item on 20 february - I was outbid but received no SMS or email informing - web site malfunction???

Do not trust this site - I will be contacting the consumer council
