False information on Authorization

A couple months back, I had to under do a bilateral varicoceles, which at the time of admission to hospital, the medical aid inform me and the doctor that the procedure was authorized and we could go ahead with it. Weeks later, i was shocked at the amount that i owed the doctors with the medical aid claiming that they do not cover for such procedure.

My complain is why did they approve for this procedure when they knew very well that this was not covered? now i am left with bills which I did not intend to have, and can not afford. I would have saved money and only done so at the time when financially it may have made sense.

I do not understand how can I be expected to cover for these claims which were said to be approved. Discovery needs to be liable for their poor communication as this was not suppose to have happened. I feel exploited by a company which I had high respect for.

I wish for these bills to be cancelled and doctors be paid their outstanding amounts as i am not prepare to be taken to lawyers for a part which Medical aid they themselves Authorised.

I am now left with scars and bills, One of them i am not prepare to pay for because it was false communicated
