We each had a few drinks before last rounds were called and when it came to paying the bill my Discovery visa card would not go through. The bar tender told me it was often a problem as the card machine cashes off at 12, after which it does not connect properly to the bank. The bar manager Ryan came over to see what was going on and told me very rudely that they do not take Discovery cards. I told him that I had never been told this before, to which he rolled his eyes. So I told him that I work for Discovery and they are not a bank and that it is a visa card which is administered by FNB, so he tells me "perhaps you should work for someone else". Then my boyfriend came over and tried to pay with his cards which also did not go through. My friend offered to pay with his card which has pictures of on it; Ryan looked at the card and says "what is this? A child's card? " and practically threw the card back at him. Eventually we were forced to go and draw money to pay for the bill as none of us had cash on us as most places these days have card facilities. Ryan treated us as if we were trying to skip our bill, and was incredibly rude, all we wanted to do was pay our bill.
