Hospital authorization nightmare

I joined Momentum Health on the 1st of December 2013 after belonging to my previous medical aid for several years as I thought their packages were amazing. On joining, I was told that there was no waiting period and any hospital admissions would be dealt with as though I had always been a member.

In January of this year, I tore the meniscal cartilage in my right knee playing sports. After a visit to the ER, followed by treatment by my GP for three weeks, I saw a specialist who determined surgery was necessary for repair. The surgery was scheduled, and the hospital was to organize authorization. I was notified by them (not Momentum) that there was a problem.

On contacting Momentum, they told me a clinical history was required. After telling them it was irrelevant as it was an injury they told me to send an injury report from my ER visit. After the hospital faxed the report, I was told three times they had not received it and would call me back. They didn't. After I e-mailed it again, another two phone calls resulted in an explanation of how they needed a clinical history. I explained THEIR OWN CRITERIA TO THEM and was told they would phone me back. Still I wait.
