Netcare
Don't go to this hospital

Health & Medicine

The other night I had a muscle spasm and had to go to the casualty department at Netcare Waterfall at 4am. When we arrived at the casualty department the doors to the hospital were locked and we had to wait 10 minutes while security tried to work out how to open them.

I was eventually put in a room and told to wait for the doctor, who when she arrived looked as though she had been woken up by the nurses on duty. I was told I needed an injection and she walked out without any further explanation. When the nurse returned with the injection and was getting ready to administer it the doctor came in and told him not to just give me the injection but to administer it through a drip and she was gone again.
At the end of all of this I am told that the cortisone injection which they gave me was only R290 but because the doctor decided to use a drip to administer it I was charged R900 just for the drip! R1670 in total for what should have just been an injection. Turns out the easiest thing to do was what the doctor initially said, injection straight into the muscle.
In a life and death situation I would continue driving to the next hospital rather than taking the chance at this place.
