Fedhealth Medical Scheme
Deeply Disappointed

I have been a member of Fedhealth since I was a child under my parents medical aid - more than 25 years now I believe. I became a type 1 diabetic in 1991 and by the time I joined the medical aid after I finished studying I started struggling to manage to receive all my chronic medication without my medical aid running out before the end of the year. I joined the CDE when I could and things improved greatly but now Fedhealth has decided to stop supporting the CDE and to prescribe medicine again through the chronic medication list.

If I stay on Fedhealth and the medications I have been prescribed then my chronic limit will be reached by May of next year and then what am I supposed to do - pay for the medication and pay the medical aid for nothing? That will be financially a very bad decision for me.

On top of this I applied for a pump this year and knowing full well that they would be ending CDE care they rejected my application saying that as a member of CDE the CDE must pay for it thereby stalling the application and at the same time knowing that I would have to start from the beginning again next year when their cover for CDE ended. I cannot recommend Fedhealth to anyone.
