WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR SERVICES I DID NOT RCV

I applied for medical aid with Medihelp, within 2 months, I decided, that I don't need their cover anymore, and I did not pay them thereafter, now they are calling me for payment of premiums for the month of April. Why do I have to pay for this, because I did not utilize the medical aid at all. Can some one clarify me on this?
