Towards the end of October 2012, we decided to join Discovery Health. All the relevant docs were completed and send to a broker. This for me as the principle member a first and as such did not know what to expect. On the 1st of November 2012 my first membership premium were paid. A week after my fist payment, i contacted Discovery about my membership card and was informed that it "takes about 14 days to issue. After the 14day period expired, they were contactet yet again (this after numerous calls to the call centre as well as e-mails to healthinfo@discovery. Only responses received were autmated reponses. December came and another premium were deducted and still no m/card. At the end of December, my husband needed to see a doctor and were turned away simply because we had no proof of membership, only the membership number. This was not acceptable to him as he needed the original m/card to make some sort of copy as this were new business/patients According to him, this is standard practice for new clients. We then contacted healthinfo@ discovery now for the umpteen time and after verifying my adress yet again. Still waiting... We have since resigned and awaits the outcome from the ombudsman.
