Items from hotel room

I checked into the road lodge airport on the 6th of June. When we left for supper, all my belongings were left in my hotel room. When we arrived back after supper, I smelled cigarette smoke in my room (non smoking room) and knew something was not right. When I checked my belongings, I found my laptop, ipod, sunglasses, leatherman, and all other electronic accessories missing. I informed reception- who was not really perturbed about it. I then found another gentleman downstairs who also had his room broken into (think his room was 2 way from mine). I asked for them to call the police. Under duress they did so. When the police arrived, they did everything possible to convince me not to open a case and only did so after I lost my cool!
It took them 6 weeks to get back to me with an answer! All the letter from MS Govender from AIG says, is that they reviewed the claim and don't think they are liable.
Very strange that they broke into 2 occupied rooms that night (hotel was nowhere near full!).
Very strange that the GM said to me that it could not be her staff as no one smoked?
Very strange that the GM told me that I could pay for polygraphs if I so wished...
