TRANSMED MEDICAL AID

We have been members of Transmed for many years. We are on the top plan (private cover). My wife has to undergo a total knee replacement operation. The Orthopaedic Surgeon's office requested authorization this week but it was declined.

According to the plan we are on, we may use private hospitals provided that the procedure is classified as a PMB (Prescribed minimum benefits). HOW DO WE REGISTER THIS AS A PMB? We are paying R4900-00 pm for 2 people.

The Dr sent the necessary codes as well a motivation letter but still Transmed declined.

They have no idea what pain my wife is enduring and it is affecting her leg and the other knee, hips and low back as well because she is walking with a limp at present, which is unnatural causing the abovementioned problems. She is also starting to suffer from depression because of the continuos pain. The side effects of all the pain killers she is taking at present can only lead to further problems like kidney and liver failure. WHAT IS TRANSMED GOING TO DO THEN??
