At the beginning of April I called Discovery to have my health plan changed from the Classic Delta Saver to the Essential Delta Saver, due to the fact that I hardly ever use my medical aid and have a huge medical savings balance.

I asked for the change to be effective as of the 1May, as we were already in April and my premium had been deducted. The consultant was quite friendly and helpful during the process and she seemed to be pretty clued up. She assured me that the change had been made and that it would be effective as of 1 May. I received a certificate of membership to confirm this and it seemed as if everything was sorted out.

Although I could be mistaken, I am quite certain that I was told that my new premium would be deducted on the 2nd of May, yet when I checked my statement this morning, the old amount of R1449 had been deducted. I contacted the call centre and was told that my premiums are paid in arrears and not in advance.

Therefore, I was misinformed by Discovery, I did not use my medical aid in April, and I want a refund for the difference of R297!!! This is not my first billing issue with Discovery, and I will move to another provider if this is not resolved!!
