Faulty hard drive - Not willing to assit

I got an external LG Hard drive as a gift just under 2 years ago. The hard drive just stopped working recently and LG is messing me around. I have the box which states the product has a 2 year warranty. I called LG electronics in Montague gardens and said they dont repair hard drives and referred me to Cape Town Electronics. I then called them and then said the same thing and referred me to CRT. They then told me they only work on laptops and not hard drives. I was disgusted with the service i got. Why must I make all this calls? Is this the kind of service LG offers? If your product is out there, we as end users should be able to walk into a service centre, book in the product, service, repair or replace it, done. Why try to pass the buck? This is my first LG hard drive i had. I have had no issues with Western Digital and Seagate. If your hard drive is faulty you basically walk into the service centre, without making one call. They book it in, if they cant fix it, in most cases they give you a brand new one. Why cant LG do the same? If you cant enjoy the product (LG), why buy it? Could someone from LG please call me regarding my HDD and not to talk about washing machines and laptops.
