Amateur stock manangement

Went to the main iStore, and asked for the MacBook pro 15' as advertised and displayed in the shop.
1) They were out of stock on both the current and previous 2gh model, both advertised.
2) The guy who helped me could give an answer on surrounding shop stock. He tried to call central desk but nobody answered (glad I did not do that myself). Why could he not look it up in inventory system like any decent company?
3) Then he had to ask his friends, one by one, in the other shops if there are stock. There was none. With only 1 15' laptop product to sell, how can they be that bad at stock management? Hifi corps sells thousands of things and are better.

In short I was very disappointed for such an expensive high-end product with such a brand name.
