Swollen Battery Problem

Electronics and household app.

I noticed the back cover of my Samsung Galaxy S4 seemed a bit swollen, I opened the cover to find that my battery had swelled. After doing some research online I found that this is an acknowledged problem on Samsung's side and that one had to simply go to a Samsung service center to get the battery replaced. So, I go to Samsung the next day, they firstly request proof of purchase before they will help me, which is weird to me as I deal with this sort of thing daily being an IT Technician and knowing that everything is digital these days, I mean really. But that's not really the point as I have all my documentation, my problem is the 7 - 10 working day wait for a battery, so in the mean time I have to wait with a phone that intermittently switches itself off and the swelling could potentially cause future damage to my phone by cracking the screen, and even worse case scenario even explode, though Samsung insists that cannot happen there have been reported cases of this. Everywhere else in the world people report that they simply go to the service center and immediately replace the affected battery. I am extremely off about this as I need my phone to do my job.
