GoPro "top of the range" let down and unreliable

Had a big trip/experience planned the weekend that cost me quite a penny, wanting to catch the memory on my GoPro Hero3 Black edition with latest firmware updated ect... Charged the camera the whole previous night including the battery extender pack... WITH GREAT DISAPPOINTMENT it did not want to power up and ended up being a annoying brick on a stick that I had to carry around that had no use. This is not the first time that this has happened, went on a ski trip In July, fortunately I was there for more than one day and had my laptop with me, the only way for me to sort out the pathetic unreliable firmware is by having the camera plugged into a PC (PC only, direct charger does not work for the problem), and then sit for hours changing sequences of removing battery, removing memcard reinserting en detaching all the loose cards and batteries for hours, and keeping buttons pressed and and and and, until eventually with lots and lots of luck and frustration the camera resets some how and powers back on... I'm considering donating the camera as a chew toy for my dog and getting a brand that is more reliable, because one simply can not take pictures with a walking stick.
