Won’t refund my deposit for work he didn’t do

I gave Ian from Woolf Contracting a R50000 deposit to replace my roof. He did a few small patches to the roof and kept promising to start the job. I eventually had to get someone else to do the job.
Two years later and all I get are promises they help pay me back. That’s when you can actually get him to answer his phone
