Unwilling to exchange goods (unused)

I inadvertantly bought the wrong pool filter and pump for my pond. The pond contractor requested I go back and swop them for the correct (more expensive ones) which I did, but they refuse to make the exchange as i dont have the original reciept despite the fact that they a) remember me buying the original goods, b) can look it up on thier system and retrieve the invoice, which I have givben them all the details to do so, and c) admit / recognise that the goods are unused and bought at thier store.

Nice one pool team! ~You have just lost out on someone who spends on average R1500 per month in your store on chemcals etc, and I will be buying the correct equipment from one of your competitors...
