Construction! Home Renovation Nightmare

My home renovation has been a complete disaster due to the unscrupulous nature of Derick Potgieter and APQ Services.

I employed Derick to manage my kitchen and bathroom renovation, paying a substantial amount up front. Derick purposefully used inferior materials after we discussed exactly which materials would be used. Using ceramic tile adhesive on my kitchen floors and walls means that they would come loose in a matter of months. The job done was also atrocious. After buying tiles at over R250/m2, I had to strip the kitchen down again, buy new tile and re-do the work with a reputable tiler. This added about R15, 000 to my total cost.

Derick also did not supervise the plumbing work. He used a builder with no plumbing experience to complete work, as his suppliers refuse to work for him due to non-payment. I also paid for kitchen repairs which he never conducted. Total paid to him was R23, 000 and now I am stuck trying to recover money from this, who refuses to take my calls.

I plan on lodging a charge of with the police and getting my lawyers involved. According to his workers, this happens with ALL of his jobs.
