Be aware who issues your Building Certificates

Upon purchasing a property from a home owner, there needs to be electrical, beetle and plumbing certificates. Techno electrical was the appointed service provider for the property that I purchased. they issued a beetle certificate, which I have no way of telling if it is within the accepted regulations. They also issued an electrical certificate when there was clearly one plug, power outlet, in the garage that was not checked or repaired, but the certificate was issued. Yes, they did come and repair it after we complained.
Then they were contracted to do the plumbing. The standard of acceptance is way different to when I sold my house 8 months prior. I had to fix or replace every tap, every tap washer and leaking toilet cistern in the whole house. In this case, half the emergency shut off taps in the house are not functional. They had to put in a drain for the washing machine water outlet. All good and well, but the pipes are cut too short so the water splashes all over the place and is washing the backfill soil away.
Their attitude is, as long as it is there, it's fine. It doesn't actually have to work, and they will not come and fix it.
