Making a mountain out of a blown lightbul

Construction & Repair

I recently sold my house and had to get a certificate of compliance for the electrics.
I had changed a few small items since I bought the place, so I was still in possession of a valid certificate for the rest of the house.
Unfortunately I forgot to tell the technician this, so he checked the whole house (the vast majority of which is signed off under the previous CoC).

I'm sure you can see where this is going, but of course when I got the report back there were a multitude of items already signed off, which they now said I had to replace.

Some extracts from their report:
- One of the bulbs on a chandelier was loose, working fine, but loose - R95, or alternatively they offered to kindly replace the entire chandelier if they couldn't fasten the bulb.

- An exterior light had rust on the fitting, and the glass was loose - cost R510, just about double the cost of buying one yourself.

- My personal favorite, a blown lightbulb in the kitchen. Their report reads "Kitchen - 1x 12V downlighter - not working - trace fault & repair R 150, 00"

The total quote came to just shy of R5000.

I dont think so...
Of course I'm already down R560 for the bogus inspection :(
