Poor quality of goods

Construction & Repair

We bought a Toronto patio furniture unit on the 02July 2012, for R7917.95. Within the first six months, it started fading and cracking. We consulted the sales person, Armstrong, who advised us to use a furniture oil that cost us about R200 for a 500ml bottle. About 5 bottles later and 2 months later, the problem persisted. We went back to Armstrong, who advised that we should return the unit when there is new and different stock for an exchange or a credit note. In May we arranged transport to take the unit back. Andrea, Armstrong's manager refused to take the furniture back, but instead took pictures to send to their head office. The head office sent someone to see where the furniture is kept and found it to be kept in a patio. After that we were told that head office said that the furniture is exposed to the element and it ends there. We feel that spending this amount of money and getting this kind of product and service is unfair to consumers. The furniture is meant for the patio and is used as intended in a patio. Blaming the problem on the elements makes no sense.
