SARS changed the UIF contribution amount in October 2012. NO email was sent to my company indicating that a legislative update had to be run in order to effect the changes. There are automatic notifications to any upgrades to the software when you open the program itself, however apparently there is no automatic notification for a legislative upgrade which I would argue is more important than a software upgrade!

To make matters worse, the Labour department website totally supplied misinformation when it stated that "The latest adjustments do not affect the employee and employer contributions to the UIF. The current rates of contributions from the employee and the employer remain the same at one percent each of total income.' It was only after reading another website that I read that this information, given by the Minister of Labour herself was INCORRECT, it did in fact have an impact on the contributions!! Given that there was obviously misinformation out there, I would have expected an on the ball Payroll company to have made an extra effort to ensure that all their customers knew of the changes.
Pastel, you lost a lot of credibilty with me over this!
