The window winder mechanism of my Mercedes Vito CD 115 somehow got the cable damaged. This could not be abuse, as it is electric and is only used infrequently, being the passenger side.
The cable (probably worth R5) is all that is damaged, but one has to replace the ENTIRE mechanism at a cost of R2446.
Mercedes answer - "that is the way it comes in to the country".
Now I have to replace a perfectly good electric motor and the rest of the mechanism, because Mercedes choose not to supply the most likely part to sustain damage.
Customer relations wise, I spent over 20 minutes trying to contact head office, being cut off 4 times, before I got to speak to someone.
I have two Vito's, but when time comes to replace, will make more enquiries as to how badly other manufacturers rip customers off with enforced purchase of unnecessary items.
Shame on your company.
