Volkswagen
Service Centre's "Expertise" cost me thousands

Cars & Transport

Due to the VW service centre in Middelburg that knows "so much" about VW Polo's, I have wasted thousands of money on repairs. I drive a 98 VW Polo and it was in an excellent condition up until a few months ago.

13 Aug (R3800) - My cambelt snapped. I took it to VW for replacement of the cambelt and also for a service since it was close to the service time. I enquired twice if they should not open up the head to check if the valves have been bent. They assured me that they "know" these Polo's and their valves never bend. I got the car back and was very unhappy with the service they did so I decided to never go back to VW. From there on my car overheated constantly and every time it would leak water at a new place. 2 Oct (R547) thermostat housing replaced due to leak. 18 Oct (R132) radiator thermoswitch replaced to stop overheating. 23 Nov (R1004) Thermostat and other comp's replaced to stop overheating. 3 Dec (R1710) Radiator replaced.
10 Dec the Heater Radiator was leaking due to overheating. Head was opened and finally exhaust valve was found to be bent - the main cause of overheating. The waterleaks damaged electronics too. Latest quote stands at R10 300.
TOTAL COST: R17500
