Delay in refunding deposits

I was offered a rental car by my insurance due to my car being involved in an accident. I collected the rented car on 20 September 2013 and decided to returning on 27 September 2013. It was well received with a full fuel tank and no damages noted. I was informed that my initial deposit of R750 will be refunded as all was well. No other amounts were communicated to me. On 2 October, an amount of R136.80 was debited from my credit card without authorisation or any notification. I contacted Avis on 3 October (12:38) to enquire about the amount. I was notified it was windscreen and tyre waiver. I then asked the lady when I would receive my deposit and she informed me that it took 7 working days for the reversal to go through. I said all was well and would wait. I still did not receive the deposit and called again on 15 October (09:14) to find out what the delay was. The lady informed me that there might be a hold from my bank and that I should check my statement. I told her there was no hold and she said she would lodge a query on her side to the bank. I still have not received my refund nor got a call from Avis, yet they are quick to demand the deposit when we collect cars.
