In September I saw an ad on gumtree about a Ford Bantam and I phoned the contact person at the dealer, Wessel. He said he will come and show me the bakkie the next day, as he had to come into town. The next day he showed up and I had a look at it. There were no service books or anything present, but he assured me it had a full service history. He then told me, he will give me the vehicle on the road for the price it was on the floor.(no registration fees) After I signed the contract I noticed I was charged for registration and that the bakkie hasn't been serviced in 35000km. The spare wheel was flat, but the same day it came back from roadworthy test? After I complained, the bakkie were collected, had been given a quick oil service and the tire inflated, not even the air filter were replaced. After 35000km I really think a car needs more than just an oil service. I had more than a quarter tank of petrol in and after they brought it back, it was dead empty. A week later the tire is flat again.
I spoke to Ian (manager at Paarl branch) about the registration fees, and he just told me sorry, that's standard procedure.
I feel that the vehicle were sold to me under false pretenses.
