Sould I buy?

I am considering buying two XTG 250 off-road bikes for my wife and I from your Port Shepstone dealer. However, my enquiries amongst the biking community (rightly or wrongly they talk of rust setting in and bits falling off within months of taking delivery - perception is reality) and the sheer volume of complaints in this forum tell me that my experience may not be a happy one. Of particular concern is the fact that many of the complainants have had to take their bikes back to the dealer 3, 4 and 5 times before they were satisfied. I live 60km away from my nearest dealer and could not tolerate that situation. For the price I will pay I do not expect a contender for the Dakar, I merely would like to use the bikes to ride around our farm and to explore the country roads when we go away for the weekend. As we are both in our late fifties I don't think we will strain them too much! My problem is watching my wife set off down a country road on her own on a bike that may not be reliable. Can you reassure me on these points?
