Toyota Verso 2012 1.6 Sx Manual

Cars & Transport

We bought a Verso 1.6 sx 10 months ago. Nice car, nice features and all.

Last month (14 000km), taking kids to school and driving my usual 500m bumper to bumper traffic, I managed to burn out my clutch. Car was towed to McCarthy Toyota Centurion. Still waiting for Menlyn to call. Toyota SA said it was not under guaranty and will not accept the claim.

I was told that it is a WEAR and TEAR item and was caused by my "driving style/habits" and mud was found in engine?

R8000 later, it is disappointing driving this car.

This is my 4th Toyota in 18 years and never has 1 of my previous cars brake down. I always felt that Toyota was safe, reliable cars and I would never drive anything else.

In my opinion, Toyota should incl a driving skills course and inform buyers not to drive in mud when selling a Verso. Such sensitive clutches should be automatic, NOT MANUAL!

Shocking that there is not at least a 12 month guaranty on brand new cars and Toyota SA is proud of a genuine part that couldnt even reach 10 months or 1st service (15 000km). Whats the use of buying a new car?
