Cambelt checks never done

The car was booked in for it's 120k service in April this year and according to the book the cambelt needs to be changed. They marked in the service book that it was checked but it never was and we were never advised to change it. The cambelt broke on the way on holiday, had to get a rental and tow the car to Vereniging. They informed me that the cover to check the belt was never removed before. Hatfield is just saying it was never paid for so I cant complain and the VIN says it needs to be changed on 180 000. The car drove for 7000km after the 120k service when the belt broke. They are paying good will but why must I be held responsible for any payments if they were supposed to check it. Because of the cambelt the water pump is also broken and now something else is wrong with the car and I am stuck without a car now for 2 weeks. I want Audi to do the repairs for free seeing as it was supposed to be done, they marked in the service book that they did check it and never did, and I don't care if the system says only on 180k, the book says 120k and they should have advised us to get the belt changed. We pay a lot of money for a car we expect excellent after service on.
