Sasol
Oil cap left open

Cars & Transport

On a trip to Pretoria yesterday, my father and I stopped at a Sasol garage in Witbank to top up on petrol and check the necessities ie oil, water etc. The petrol attendant notified my father that the car was in need of oil who then told him to proceed and top it up. One usually expects the attendants to do a thorough job and we should not have to check up on them but clearly in this case, we should have. Upon arrival in Pretoria, my father smelt something off and just assumed it was another car but after a while, the smell was still there and so he went to check in the bonnet. He discovered that after topping the oil up, the cap was left lying around in the bonnet and so all the oil spilt and could have caused irreparable damage to the car's engine. It also leaves the question that, how would he have driven back home if the oil cap had fallen out along the road? We had to purchase FOUR bottles of oil AGAIN which did NOTHING because the oil cylinder was EMPTY. Had he not noticed, the car would have stopped along the way and we were driving quite late with my little sisters too so this put their safety at risk! I am bitterly disappointed with this issue.
