PRODUCT RECALL ON ABS MODULE ON CHEV SPARK

Cars & Transport

I received a letter from General Motors that there might be a problem with the ABS module on Chev Sparks purchased in 2007-2009 and would I please take my car to Reeds, Cape Town (place of purchase) for the system to be checked/flushed out at no cost to myself. The car was booked in on Thursday, 17 Jan, and did not take 2hrs 15mins as suggested in the letter but was there all day. When returned the car had NO brakes. I phoned the next morning to be told that they would probably come right in the next few days!!! What if I had had an accident. I nearly drove through a stop street. They told me to bring the car back on Monday, 21 Jan, and I requested that they put fuel in the car to compensate for the R100 it cost me for 2 unnecessary trips to town. I am a pensioner and certainly cannot afford these unecessary expenses. Needless to say, they refused to do this, the car came back this afternoon with brakes but not ONE word of apology. The Call Centre was no help at all. Was this letter (product recall) just a to get cars in and root for new business??? I am disgusted with their service or lack of it and will never go near them again
