50PPM Diesel is too dirty for Renault Koleos

Cars & Transport

Short story. When I bought my Renault Koleos 2lt Diesel in July 2010, I never was informed of the troubles I will get. Strictly following the request to ONLY fill up with 50PPM Diesel, I drove several extra km to get that kind. The manufacturer warranty is 5 years and 150, 000km. Within 3yrs and 124, 000km I was asked to repair damages of about R50, 000, because some garage owner had apparently not clean diesel in their tank and I have to find out which one was that, to ask them the cost. Renault SA knew about the problems of diesel engines with the diesel particulate filter, also know as a DPF or FAP, is a device designed to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. Renault has no answer for the known ''bad'' diesel suppy in SA, so they sell a car, knowing that and when the computor goes haywire, I, the customer have to pay. This model has been removed from the market suddenly, but existing owners is still held responsible for cost, and Renault SA provides no solution to customers driving that models. I am busy with the Motor Industry Ombusman, with no transport and my time and efford to solve the matter is costing me plenty of bucks.
