Ridiculous Key Policy

My fianc? bought a Ford Ranger 4 x 4 a few months ago and recieved a full key with immobiliser and a spare key without one. We can't use the spare key at all because it means the alarm needs to be off for it to work, otherwise the alarm starts screaming when you open the door. How can they give a spare key that is effectively useless, and expect you to pay over R2000 for another immobiliser key? I need to use the car but my fianc? is away with the key on his chain. I phoned Eastern Cape Motors and tried to ask them for advice, but after being put through to 4 people, and being kept on hold for over 10 minutes, I was told that yes, the spare key does not work at all if the alarm is on, and that the only solution is to disconnect the alarm, but they couldn't even tell me how to do that! When one pays over R500 000 for a bakkie, how can a R2000 spare key not be included?!
