Fig Tree Restuarant
Creme Brulee and bad attitude

Hi there, we hve just been to the Fig Tree Restuarant at Simbithi for the second time. The main course tonight was fantastic as usual but they advertised a "passion fruit creme brulee"" and being a bit of a fundi on these I asked a couple of times whether this was made today. I was assured that it was so ordered. The creme brulee was so stiff that you could stand a spoon in it and there was no passion fruit it in at all. After speaking to a few diners around me they all had the same complaint. I asked to speak to G van Staden, the chef, who quite catagorically stated that it had been made that day and that he was unable to source passion fruit. When I suggested that perhaps he should have told customers and that the creme brulee was rock solid, he got aggresive and walked away from me, saying he refused to take it off the menu. He was exceptionally rude and just walked away when I tried to talk to him. Talk about customer service and pleasing the local customers! What would have been a wonderful experience, has now turned into a disaster and we will never return to this resturarant. What a pity as there were eleven of us just out to enjoy good food in Ballito.
