KFC
Not allowed to view halaal certificate

Cafes, Bars, Restaurants

My family and I went to the KFC branch in George street in Kimberley on 30 December 2013 for supper. Since we are here on holiday, we weren't 100% sure if they are halaal. My 17 year old brother went up to the counter and spoke to Anna, he asked if they are halaal and she said yes. He then asked to see the certificate and her response was "Ya it is here somewhere". Anna then called someone by the name of Elvin. I spoke to Elvin and asked him if we could see the halaal certificate. He showed me a letter (looks like a photocopy) which says that the meat used has been slaughtered according to Islamic rights. I asked him again for the actual halaal certificate which is supposed to be displayed for the public to see. Elvin said that the certificate is stuck against the wall in some office at the back and that I'm not allowed to go see it because the floors are wet and I might slip and get hurt. This disgusting attitude of the staff and failure to show us the halaal certificate resulted us in leaving the branch and eating elsewhere.
