KFC refuses payment

Cashiers at the drive in- could not take my payment for a boxmeal by debit card.

Although the building clearly had electricity, all the computers where off, and the cashier was issuing people with hand written reciepts out of an un-official reciept book without a company stamp.

I was told that the machine would not accept my debit card since it did not have a chip. The FNB card machines that they have there do not use chips, my debit card was working and had sufficient funds for the transaction.
The shift manager then told me that there system was not working, and that I should go and draw cash at an ATM so that I could pay them.

I left without being able to pay for my order. I find this irregular from a financial point of view, but i was also very insulted that KFC could not accept my money.
