We are not Muslims. This is not a Muslim country

We went to Spur Rosebank and were told we could not order pork products or alcohol. While we support Spur's willingness to cater for religious attitudes and or peculiarities, we do not appreciate having it forced upon us. The constitution of the republic guarantees freedom of religion to practice and associate as you choose. It does not guarantee freedom to impose your peculiar beliefs on other people who do not share your beliefs.

Moreover, my wife is a Hindu Yogi and was very disappointed that your menu did not contain any Hindu-specific items or acceptable range of vegan food. Fry's vegan products, for example, can readily be substituted for hamburgers, sausages, chicken nuggets, etc.

We want to know why you are discriminating in favour of Muslims and against Hindus. According to StatsSA, Muslims represent 1.5% of the population, a total of about 737000. Why this special treatment? Hindus represent a very similar fraction of the population, also around 1.5%. Is it perhaps that your branch owner is a Muslim and he wishes to exclude other people in the population? If so, is this permitted by your company?

It's not that we couldn't order what we wanted, it is the principle.
