Horrified at the poor assistance and service

I am horrified at the lack of skills, knowledge and customer service Standard Bank staff have. For over a month now I have been trying to close my account, both cheque and credit card. I called customer service who advised me that the account will be closed, when nothing happened I called again to be told by another customer service official that I need to write a letter through internet banking and someone will get back to me regarding the matter and notifying me all has been done. I did so and surprise surprise no one got back to me. I then went into Standard Bank (East Rand Mall) and was assisted but a very unfriendly blond Afrikaans lady who closed my cheque account and said that she will notify head office to close my credit card and refund the money owed to me on that account. a week went by with no refund, I then called customer service supplied them with a reference number which I received from the bank, which they could not track. I then had to give them my new banking details yet again. Only to be called again today several weeks later to be told I have to write a letter with my new banking details. SHOCKING and not one employee has asked why I want to close my a/c!
