Unethical Business conduct to gain new business

I was convinced by Discovery Insure last year to move my insurance on my vehicle as well as other items over to Discovery Insure. as you know moving from one insurer to another is not without its issues and problems.
When they signed me up last year, there was absolutely NO mention of the fact that I had to insure house content with them in order to insure small items like a wedding ring, bicycle, Galaxy Tablet, and a cell phone.
they just phoned me to inform me that my policy is coming up for an anniversary, and that unless I insure house content with them, all of the above small items will be removed from my policy. According to their Call centre, there is absolutely NOTHING they can do about it as their policy has changed.
not to mention the fact that I had paid for insurance on these items for 12 months - now I have to try and insure them somewhere else. they have been gladly taking my money for a year - will they be giving me a refund?
