Fnb violates privacy

My wife applied for an iPad device through Fnb, because I had mine for over a year.
At first she got a sms tht said they to call her. But at no time did she receive a call.
When we phoned the call centre to complete our application the responsible person wanted to know a lot of private things. Like when does my wife receive her salary. How much is her salary, he wanted her card number.
Is this the way that Fnb uses their applications?? Cause I feel a violation of my privacy. We would like an apology on connection of this.
